ALM85 and ALM120 meet international Energy Efficiency Level VI and CoC Tier 2 standards, applicable for the US, UK and Europe, which set requirements for average active mode efficiency, measured at 25, 50, 75 and 100% load; minimum efficiency at 10% load; and maximum power consumption at no load. “The ALM series meets all of these requirements with a comfortable margin,” claimed XP, adding that the ALM series also has medical and ITE safety approvals.

They meet 4th edition medical EMC requirements, and Level B EN55032 standards for both radiated and conducted emissions.

They come in Class I and Class II versions, providing designers with a choice of input earth schemes.

In addition, there is an optional AC input cord retention clip for Class I models, which provides extra protection to prevent the input power connector being disconnected at the power supply.

Environmental rating is IP32.

Applications are expected in automation, process control, instrumentation, broadcast, communications and healthcare.

The series are available from Digi-Key, element14, Farnell, RS Components, approved regional distributors, or direct from XP Power.
