december 2017 android share chart

To be precise, the stats are based on active devices interacting with Google Play over the period of a week. (“Data collected during a 7-day period ending on December 11, 2017. Any versions with less than 0.1% distribution are not shown”)

The main takeaway is the slow increase for Android “Nougat” 7.x. It has only gained 2.7 extra points in percentage share, but this represents a 13.1% increase month on month.

If Nougat has waxed, then KitKat and Marshmallow have waned. They are down from  14.5% to 13. 8% (KitKat) and from 32.0% to 30.9% (Marshmallow).

Android “Oreo” v8.0 now takes a minuscule 0.6% share.
