Nintendo Labo AR

Nintendo Labo uses AR to turn DIY cardboard models into accompanying toys, such as a piano keyboard, a fishing rod, a car controller, and others. Basically, you fold the accessory into shape and slot in the Switch console to provide the visuals. It then responds to your different inputs, be they pressing a keyboard, reeling in a line, or revving throttles.

Imec EEG headset measures emotions

Imec and Holst Centre have developed a prototype of an electroencephalogram (EEG) headset that can measure emotions and cognitive processes in the brain. The headset is a major breakthrough in emotion measurement for therapeutic, learning and gaming applications.

Eye-tracking glasses sense eye’s natural dipole

The human eyeball has a natural electric dipole, from cornea to retina, which Belgian research lab IMEC has managed to exploit in wireless eye-tracking glasses, that look like glasses and run for 10 hours without re-charging. Sensing only voltages, the solution smaller, lower-power and cheaper than incumbent camera-based solutions, said the lab.
