Here, at Metropolis, our webmaster is preparing to stock a Gallery of Glory for photos of competitors’ desks.

To give entrants some appreciation of the standards required in this demanding field – a badge of honour for engineers – we post below a photo of the workbench of the late great Jim Williams of Linear Tech.

In honour of Williams, the winner of the competition will be awarded a jigsaw puzzle depicting his legendary working environment.
