The UK inventor Richard Browning who has been developing the Daedalus ‘flight suit’ will be bringing the technology to this year’s Elektra Awards in London next week.
As if recognising excellence in electronics, food and drink a-plenty, an entertaining host, the company of your peers and the chance to network with influential people in the industry wasn’t reason enough to attend… you can also check out Richard’s handiwork at close hand!
You can look, but you can’t fly. Maybe that will be the Elektra Awards 2018!
Anyway, check out the prototype flight suit in action below, which has been developed by his company Gravity, using design tools such as the RS Components DesignSpark and the Sony SmartEyeglass system.
Steve Ray, our Commercial Director here at Electronics Weekly, was the one to arrange the visit, courtesy of RS Components:
“It is with great excitement and pleasure to announce the World Guinness Record beating, real life “Iron Man” rocket suit along with record holding pilot and inventor, Richard Browning, will be at the Elektra Awards. Please do check out the actual suit and related videos in the drinks reception area!
Note, though: please do not touch, put on or fire up the suit, health and safety would be most displeased!”
You can also hear a more in-depth TED Talk from the man himself below. It’s called ‘How I built a jet suit’:
Impressive. Just don’t call him ‘Rocket Man’ – that name is already taken…
