Ambiq blockCalled Apollo 2, the firm claims the chip has the potential to double the battery life in wearable devices.

Scott Hanson, founder and CTO, Ambiq Micro, writes:

“Our sub-threshold technology will bring a similar pace of innovation to the IoT. It allows us to drive energy consumption below what we previously imagined was possible.”

Device peripherals include:

  • 14-bit analogue-to-digital converters
  • Digital microphone interface with pulse density modulation (PDM) for voice application
  • Voltage comparator
  • Temperature sensor
  • I2C/SPI for communication with sensors, radios, co-processor and other peripherals
