It is the work of one John Dingley and you can see the unicycle in action in the video below, where apparently he increased his speed on previous trials and he also demonstrates an orderly bailout. It’s a “fully working, fully controllable” prototype.
He writes:
Managed to get to 30% of max power this time, much faster than in last video. Also a reasonable demo of the fast bailout technique – much more elegant than faceplanting.
You can see why these beaches in Wales used to be used for land speed record attempts. You feel a sense of history when you are there.
Apparently, the Mega Hub Motor Electric Unicycle features a 3,000W brushless hub motor and the driver sits on aluminium cylinder that houses a battery pack made up of LiFePO4 cells.
