Also known as AS9100 in the USA and JISQ 9100 in Japan, it is supported by major aeronautics manufacturers worldwide, said Harwin.

“We have a strong presence in the aerospace market, as our high-reliability connector ranges are designed to withstand extremes of temperature, vibration and shock and have been proven in many programmes,” said Harwin technical director Andrew McQuilken.

“EN 9100 certification not only provides greater customer confidence in the integrity of our products, but also it helps us make continuous improvements to our internal business practices.”

According to the firm, which is already certified to the ISO 9001:2008 quality management standard, aerospace is a key market sector, and its products are already used in avionics, radar systems, aircraft interiors aircraft communication and UAVs (drones). It also has space agency and satellite design-ins.

Harwin’s portfolio of hi-rel connectors includes the 2mm pitch Datamate family, which has been established for 25 years, Mix-Tek signal+power+coax connectors, Gecko 1.25mm pitch products and high temperature M300 parts.

Industries also using the firm’s high-reliability portfolio include defence, industrial, oil, gas and motorsport.
