Evelyn Waugh’s 1948 novel The Loved One was the greatest account of the Californian Way of Death, but times move on and, apparently, the big thing now about death on the West Coast is Cryopreservation.

According to CB Insights, the Californians are choosing to freeze themselves so they’ll last forever and, if they can’t afford to freeze themselves all over, they can pay for a cheapo Cryo which just freezes their brains.

But the biggest market for Cryopreservation is pets. Loads of Californians can’t face eternity without the company of their pet. So the big bucks in the Cryopreservation game is freezing cats, dogs and small birds.
