Assassin’s Creed Odyssey release date, news and trailers

[ad_1]

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, the first game in the series set in Ancient Greece, is slated to come out on October 5 2018 – in just a few weeks’ time.

When it hits you’ll be able to venture around Greece in the time of 431 BCE (a.k.a. the Peloponnesian War) as you play as either a male or female sell sword.

According to the game’s director, Scott Phillips, Odyssey will be one of the first games to incorporate broad-reaching choices that affect the world around you. Often, that will take the form of branching dialogue options that might give you option of saving someone or putting them out of their misery, helping someone out of a rut or leaving them to rot. These actions will change the world for both better and worse, and you’ll have to live with the outcomes.

Like Origins before it, though, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey will have RPG-lite elements to it. There are levels that keep certain areas restricted until later in the game, and weapon and armor drops that improve as you gain experience. Unlike the previous game, however, Odyssey sees the return of open-water sailing and naval battles. Origins had this in one or two short segments, but it will play a major factor in how you jump from island to island in Odyssey.

As far as plot details are concerned, we don’t want to give too much away, but you’ll be playing as an outcast Spartan turned mercenary, either Alexios or Kassandra. The game will start on the island of Kephallonia as you begin to uncover where you came from and turn the tide of the war for Sparta.

It’s one of the most exciting entries in the series since Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag, and could potentially lure assassins who have hung up their cloak into the animus one last time.

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey release date

After the Assassin’s Creed series took a year out between Syndicate and Origins, there’s been a question around whether the game will return to its annual release cycle or move to a more spaced out release cycle.

As it turns out, Ubisoft is back on track for an annual release.

One year after Assassin’s Creed Origins, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey will be released on October 5, 2018 – and pre-orders for the game are live right now.
