Silicon Labs CPT212B and CPT213B TouchXpress controllers are self-contained touch controllers that link to a host MCU, saving firmware development when adding touch to home appliances, medical equipment, consumer electronics, instruments, control panels and lighting.

CPT212B features up to 12 sensor inputs in a QFN20, consuming 200 µA in optimised active mode and 1µA sleeping.

CPT213B device offers up to 13 sensor inputs in a QFN24 and adds IEC 60730 Class B safety library support, designed for preventing unsafe operation of household appliances.

Connection is through an I2C interface, and an interrupt pin can wake the host processor from sleep after a proximity touch detection.

Mouser Electronics is stocking the controllers, as well as evaluation boards.

CPT212B SLEXP8018A is an evaluation board with 12 capacitive sense pads, and CPT213B SLEXP8019A has 13 inputs.

Both boards include a buzzer for touch feedback, touch qualification engine, and an expansion header for connecting to Silicon Labs EFM8 or EFM32 starter kits.
